I will try to help you identify your old computers and tell you straight up what they might be worth. No cost, this is not a service, and I am NOT a reseller.

So how does this work?

Simple. Send me a few pictures of what you have to info@oldcomputerz.com. That’s it. I’ll do some research, and get back to you when I can (I do work for a living). I provide no guarantee on the prices I give, this is a free, quick and dirty ballpark estimate based on a little research. I will not share your email with anyone, nor spam you. I’m just some dude offering a free advice, not a company offering a service, and there is no guarantee offered or implied on the prices I give you, so use at your own risk.

Why on earth would you do that, is this some sort of scam?

NOPE. I am an old-school computer animator that is trying to start a collection of old computers that I used as a kid and throughout my career. In other words, I am NOT a reseller, I am looking for very specific computers. If you have one, offer me a fair price for it, and we’ll see if we can make a deal. If not, sell it to someone else. Bear in mind, I am not anything close to wealthy, so cut me a deal. I will not be reselling these computers. I am looking for less than 20 computers total, and they will go into my collection. I’ll be posting pictures of these computers here as I get them, and for fun I may put a counter up on the number of people I have helped out. When I collect all of these computers, I am done and this page will go down.

If you don’t have a computer I am looking for, I’ll still try to identify your stuff and tell you what I believe it is worth. As an educated seller, you then know how much to sell it for. Don’t ever sell computer stuff to one of these “I’ll buy your old computer!” ads without knowing what you have. Professional resellers buy your stuff for pennies on the dollar, and then sell it for many times that. They are taking advantage of you, and no one likes that.

So what are you looking for?

With a few exceptions, the systems I am looking for are old, heavy, tan/yellow/blue/purple and black, and have the big square CRT monitors (no flat panels) that weigh a ton. Manufacturers are Texas Instruments, Apple, Mac, Commodore, Amiga, Next, Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics, and DEC. Remember, I am only looking for specific models (I have used) from these manufacturers.

So drop me a few pics of your old computers, and we’ll try to figure out what you have.
